A hot bath is prescribed for prolonged rhinitis, cough, pronounced myalgia, decreased immunity, muscle and joint pain caused by respiratory disease. But such health procedures are contraindicated for varicose veins, serious diseases of the cardiovascular system, hypertension and hypotension, as well as elevated body temperature (at 38 ° C and above).

They take a hot bath in the evening, after which, wearing warm socks, they go to bed. To enhance the effect after taking water procedures, drink warm herbal tea (for example, chamomile) or milk with honey.

Garlic-ginger cold bath

At the early stage of the disease, it is recommended to take a hot garlic-ginger bath. For its preparation you will need the following components:
- 2-3 tbsp. with a heap of table salt,
- fresh ginger root,
- head of garlic.
The crushed ginger is poured with a glass of boiled water, after which the container is covered, the composition is left to infuse for 18-20 minutes, then filtered. The recommended time for water treatment is 18-20 minutes.

A bath for treating colds: are such procedures justified?

According to the doctors, not only is it possible to bathe during respiratory diseases, but in the first days of the illness a bath with a cold is a real salvation for man. Immersed in moderately hot water, it warms up perfectly and evenly, which contributes to the acceleration of recovery.

Regardless of what factor is caused by a cold and how long a person is sick, no one has yet canceled the rules of personal hygiene. In the process of treatment, the patient sweats heavily and often, so that he remains unwashed for a week or longer? Therefore, the answer to the question “is it possible to wash with a cold” is unambiguous - it is possible and necessary.

But before taking water treatments, you should know if they are specifically allowed in your case. For example, at high temperatures it would be better to have a short hygienic shower instead of a bath. In any case, you must be guided by the state of your body, and to exclude possible complications, you should consult with your doctor.

Indications for taking a bath during a cold

Do you doubt if you can take a hot bath with a cold? In the process of respiratory diseases, bathing is recommended not only to observe hygiene rules, but also to relieve a number of cold symptoms.

The indications for bathing in a bath for a sick cold are as follows:

  • body aches. In patients with ARVI, this symptom is quite common. A warm but not too hot bath during a cold significantly reduces pain in the joints and muscles, eliminates aching pain in the back and improves the patient’s general condition,
  • labored breathing. Under conditions of high humidity and under the influence of warm steam, a runny nose passes much faster, breathing becomes much easier, a dry cough turns into a moist, more productive form. A positive result of the water procedure will significantly enhance the addition of medicinal herbs or essential oils to the water, but this is only relevant for people who are not inclined to allergic reactions,
  • poisoning toxins. The poisons excreted by bacteria and pathogens poison the human body. With excessive perspiration, the pores become clogged, which significantly slows down the natural process of removing accumulated toxins. Therefore, the cleansing of the pores during the illness is very important and the answer to the question “is it possible to wash when you have a cold” is unequivocal - water procedures are useful for a speedy recovery,
  • depression. Many people, especially those who are accustomed to constant movement, should be at home during treatment, and therefore experience sadness and melancholy and feel increased fatigue. Warm baths significantly improve the psycho-emotional state, improve mood, which is very important for quickly overcoming the disease.

You should not adhere to outdated beliefs and doubt whether you can swim with the flu. Bathing procedures for respiratory diseases do not pose any danger if they are carried out correctly, while adhering to the medical recommendations.

What should I remember a patient with ARVI when taking a bath?

To the question "is it possible to take a bath with a cold without a fever" the doctors answer is positive. But the fact that the body is struggling with the disease that struck him should not be forgotten. There are certain rules, the observance of which is compulsory when people with cold take people in the bath:

  • You can not combine a bath with alcohol. Some prefer cold drinks for warming during colds. But, in case of a cold, it is better to refuse alcohol altogether, and even if you drank a glass of mulled wine, you cannot take a bath after that,
  • at elevated temperature (39-40 ° C) of the body, the question of whether it is possible to wash with the flu will be superfluous. Especially you should beware of hot water, because it can increase the symptoms of the disease. Even if you decide to take a short-term shower, the water should not be hotter than 34-37 ° С,
  • stay in the bathroom during illness should be limited. With prolonged exposure to a room with high humidity in the nasopharynx and throat, mucus production increases, which can cause exacerbation of the common cold and cough. If there is no need to doubt whether it is possible to take a bath during a cold, then this process should not be delayed for too long. The door to the room at the same time should be slightly ajar, which contributes to lower humidity,
  • If you are convinced that you can wash with flu and cold, you should also take into account that it is better to take water procedures before going to bed at night, so that you can immediately go to bed and wrap yourself in a blanket. It is advisable to wear socks on your feet, drink a glass of herbal tea or warm milk with honey.

If you adhere to the established rules, then why not take a cold bath? It may even be necessary. Just remember the following: you need to monitor the temperature of the water and, accordingly, the temperature of your body, and do not use very hot water, since it is not always useful even to completely healthy people.

When should you not take a bath with the flu?

Along with the fact that bathing is considered to be a very useful procedure, there are also certain limitations that it is necessary to take into account when deciding whether to take a bath with the flu:

  • Body temperature. Hot baths should be discarded in cases where the temperature is too high and, in general, a short shower is enough to maintain personal hygiene in such situations.
  • people with chronic vascular and heart diseases, as well as those who have high blood pressure, should refuse from taking a bath, especially hot, with respiratory diseases
  • suffering from migraines a hot bath will cause only worsening of cold symptoms and provoke headaches. But is it possible to take a shower for colds to people with frequent headaches should be aware that this is the safest way to maintain personal hygiene in the process of treatment of SARS,
  • allergy. Baths with the addition of medicinal herbs or aromatic oils are considered most useful for colds. Such procedures are contraindicated for people prone to allergic reactions.

The most appropriate option for avoiding doubts is whether it is possible to wash with a cold without a temperature in a hot bath, consultation with your doctor will be. If the doctor approves these procedures, then there is no reason to worry, but when they advise you to refrain from washing for a couple of days, then it’s best not to risk it and wait until your health improves.

Can I take a shower with a cold?

A large number of people confidently assert that it is better to abstain from water procedures during respiratory diseases. And really, is it possible to take a shower with the flu or is it not worth it? What do professional doctors say about this?

It is not a secret that during the flu the patient consumes diaphoretic and, if necessary, antipyretic drugs, which increases sweating. The sweat that is released clogs the pores, which makes it difficult to remove toxins and waste products of viruses from the body. This suggests that washing the body for colds is mandatory.

Therefore, the questions "is it possible to wash during cold" should not arise. Only this should be done so that the procedure is as useful and safe as possible:

  • water should be warm, the optimum temperature is the range of 35-37 ° C. Do not forget that hot water will only increase the heat and complicate the patient's condition,
  • even a short shower can lower the temperature and relieve a feverish state, if you do not abuse water procedures and immediately after taking them, put on warm socks, go to bed and cover yourself with a warm blanket,
  • Can I wash my hair with a cold while taking a shower? Doctors advise to wear a special shower cap on the head before entering the shower. The fact is that the hair dries out for a long time, especially long, and this can provoke hypothermia of the body. If body cleansing is necessary, then you can refuse to wash your hair for a few days in favor of your own health.

If, however, the patient decided to wash his hair while taking a shower or a bath, without taking into consideration whether it was possible to wash his hair with the flu, then as soon as possible they should be dried with a hairdryer or wrapped tightly with a bath towel.

Another important recommendation of the doctors is that it is better to take a shower at night.

How to take a hot bath for a cold: the basic rules

Therapy for colds involves the use of various drugs that increase sweating. Released sweat clogs pores, making it difficult to remove accumulated toxins. Therefore, cleansing the body with a cold is quite an important and necessary procedure. But the maximum benefit from taking a bath or shower can be extracted only by following a few recommendations and rules.

  1. When body temperature is high, do not immerse in very hot water. This will disrupt the thermostatic functions and lead to deterioration. The optimal bath temperature does not exceed the body temperature and is 34-37 C 0. Pores will be able to clear well, and overheating will not occur.
  2. It is necessary to limit the time spent in a hot bath. Microclimate bathroom has a high humidity, which stimulates the formation of mucus in the bronchi and nasopharynx. The optimal duration of procedures with a maximum air humidity of 65% is 10-15 minutes. This time is sufficient to obtain an effective therapeutic result.
  3. Нередко народные способы лечения простуды рекомендуют использование настоек, глинтвейна, грога для снятия симптомов вирусной инфекции. На вопрос, можно ли при простуде мыться в ванной, врачи отвечают отрицательно. Warm water in combination with alcohol reduces immunity, which delays the healing process.
  4. Hot baths spend the evening before bedtime. After bathing you need to wrap yourself in a warm bathrobe, blanket. This will help prolong the artificially created state of fever. An additional increase in body temperature weakens pathogens that cannot withstand high degrees.
